Experience
Yesenia started building websites in 1997 when she taught herself HTML.
Yesenia’s first nonprofit job was as a web developer for the Constitutional Rights Foundation of Chicago. She spent over six years on staff at the ACLU of Illinois and created the position of Director of Technology and Membership. At Heartland Alliance for Human Needs & Human Rights, she served as the organization’s first Manager of Interactive and New Media. For Jasculca Terman and Associates, she expanded the position of Director of New Media.
She serves as a national board member of the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network, a board member of the Illinois Maternal and Child Health Coalition, an ex-oficio board member of the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network of Chicago and a membership committee member of the Nonprofit Technology Network.
She earned a B.A. in political science from Northwestern University.
Personal
Yesenia lives in the Andersonville neighborhood of Chicago with her pet children Moses, Oreo, and Noah. She enjoys Indian food, fiddle practice, BBC television, National Public Radio, craft beer, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Battlestar Galactica, National League baseball, Superdawg, Doctor Who, blue states and cherry pie.
